Project Win for OSBS at East Norfolk Sixth Form College

[[posterous-content:pid___0]]

Elliott Off-Site Building Solutions has been commissioned by East Norfolk Sixth Form College to design and build a new canteen and two-storey classroom block. This continues a hugely successful relationship with the College established in 2003. Three separate contracts in that time have included the current works, two further classroom blocks and a sports hall for a total of £7m.

The new two-storey classroom block will include 16 classrooms, toilets and office accommodation with the external elevations containing a mixture of red brickwork and grey Kingspan cladding to complement the existing buildings on the College site. The building will include a covered walkway linking the classroom block to the new canteen.

The new single-storey canteen building will include an open seating area with up to 196 people capacity. Also within the buildings footprint will be a kitchen, servery, toilets and storage provision. Sliding folding doors will lead out onto a large terraced area facing the College playing fields to the South of the site. The building will have the same external appearance as the classroom block in keeping with the existing College site.

Both new buildings will be formed using a combination of structural steel frame and timber infill panels with concrete floors throughout with all internal and external finishes and mechanical and electrical installations meeting the College’s specification.

The Elliott Off-Site team will start on site in early September with overall completion of the projects expected in April 2012. Once completed, the whole south facing vista of the College site will include the five buildings constructed by Elliott Off-Site.

OSBS Progress at Victory Park, Sheffield

Elliott Off-Site Building Solutions are making good progress on the new Elliott Depot at Victory Park in Sheffield. The project includes new workshop buildings, a new office building (pictured) and large hard standings for the storage of hire products.

The picture demonstrates the hybrid steel frame and timber infill panel method of construction utilised for this project by the Elliott Off-Site team. This method of construction is employed on many of the division’s projects and provides the benefit of a shorter construction programme. Using modern methods of constructing buildings we are able to provide complete design flexibility which provides tangible benefits to customers in terms of speed of construction, higher quality and efficient and adaptable space use.

Dr Who goes to Glastonbury

While it's not side splittingly funny I thought this may amuse. It's a short cartoon depicting how Dr Who's TARDIS gets "soiled" while parked along side a line of portable toilets at Glastonbury. I do like the way his eye starts twitching after he's looked inside. Enjoy!

Panda's Big Adventure

If you have a spare hour or two take a look at this.......

http://armorgames.com/play/4164/pandas-big-adventure

......."On a secret mission Panda discovers a time traveling 'portaloo' machine.

Our hero decides to go for a ride but things go horribly wrong as parts of the machine are scattered across time.
Travel back as far as the Prehistoric ages to help Panda return home safely".
The portable toilet he's travelling in seems to be based on Dr Who's TARDIS (or should that be TURDIS!?)

Anyway it's good fun, try it.

Mr Toilet's There Again.

For a long time the "man at the urinal" in our street urinal brochure, Rod Hepper is pictured here outside our portable toilets at the recent Dragon Boat Festival held on the River Nene in Peterborough. Although Rod no longer works in the marketing department here at Elliott - he is now Customer Experience Manager at Elliott Modular Buildings -he has never been one to shy away from  a publicity shot (and clearly likes being photographed with toilets!)

Heroes!

This is the saddest post I've written so far. I was sent the info from one of our guys at the Derby branch; we'd supplied 10 portable toilets to a fund-raising day for "Help for Heroes". The day was in memory of Marine Jon Crookefrom Charlie Company, 40 Commando Royal Marines. I went on the MOD website to check I'd got all his details correct. Anyway take a look and you'll see why I found it so moving.

Toilet of the Week - Shorelink MOD Potty

This is a handy little toilet unit. It's not part of our mainstream product range but is used, for example, for short term hires where a conventional portable toilet wouldn't fit or where there is no access for delivery. We've supplied them to premises where the drains have collapsed and to environmental projects in the middle of nowhere. They can also be carried and used in the back of transit type vans. The important thing is that they can be sealed using the locking straps to avoid accidental spillage.
